Grill/Casual
‘A combination of South African spices alongside classic South American dishes brought together & served with an urban twist’ ~ Chico’s joins the band-wagon with many others ultimately inspired with flavours by a specific country. Recently
opened, Chico’s has acquired the flavour profiles which are unique to them, as of many other places.
With a wide range to their menu, including a dessert & drinks, Chico’s is probably a restaurant which fits anyone’s tastebuds. Not many places like these would often have an established dessert menu also creating several milkshake options which is also a plus.
For starters/sides we had the halloumi fries served with chilli jam and lamb chops. ~ the lamb chops were not chewy or dry, they were succulent and tender which it should be. The marinate on the chops was quiet interesting, with a sweet chilli note to it. The halloumi fries were standard, the chilli jam was complementary to the cheese.
For mains we ordered chicken wings, Chef’s special, Quesadillas, and the Chick n Tikka flatbread. ~ I had the Chef’s special which was pleasant, however could have done with less mushroom sauce in my opinion. On the other hand, it positively reminded me of the Manjaros Chicken Parmo, a chicken with mozzarella cheese topped with a mushroom sauce. The chicken was juicy and succulent, the flavours were well complimented and paired nicely with two sides of mixed veg and mash potato. The quesadillas and flatbread were okay however didn’t have the wow factor to them. The flatbread had a little lack of flavour from the chicken, but on the plus side I thought the concept was great combining tzatziki. The wings were also marinated with their in house special sauce which was nice, a different flavour profile compared to others.
Overall the food was great, with a good variety to the menu. The staff were amazing, they were friendly, welcoming and made us feel at home which is great for service and professionalism. I also noted that they had a great bond with other customers (which may have been regular customers). Chico’s is worth a visit with their variety of products and great service.
